Socrates

He measures discontinuities, a man of overlooked distinction.
A shade of thought displeasing to the eye.
A separate vein from Roman blood,
A colossus in thought come to stamp the pilasters.
In reformer costume, mutiny in disguise,
Exalted in ridicule and crowned in widespread disdain.
He houses a wealth of philosophies
And bears the red flag in his ancient womb.
Mother of modern demands.

He is revolution's surrogate, deputy to modification.
Come to mend Roman's weeping wounds, bleeding coliseum.

Society's claim is answered with the drink.
The poisonous pearl is slippery in conservative fingers,
With a humble sip he tastes the toxic cup.
Society swoons to see him poisoned.
His thirst replied by hemlock, spirit silenced by humility's refreshment.
In sacrifice he answers the treacherous call.

- Lets drink to individuality.
